Korea does not grow coffee trees, but it is one of the largest coffee consuming countries in the world. Interesting, huh? There are so many cafes in Korea, from franchises to small shops. Since the Korean coffee market is almost saturated, many try to be different by their desserts, interior and designs, and unique concepts.
I haven’t gone to every coffee shop in Korea, but I wrote up a list of cute, interesting ones that I have been to.
1. C27 (Garosu-gil, Seoul)
Why is the name C27? It has 27 beautiful cheesecakes. From the basement to the 3rd floor, each floor has different styles. For example, on the 2nd floor, it has a golden room which is decorated with gold balloons and ornaments. On the other side of the floor, it has three nostalgic old-fashioned game machines.
All the lights are nice so it is good for taking selfies which Korean girls love to do. Best place ever!
Price: cheesecake – 8,800 /9,800 KRW
Address: 서울 강남구 도산대로15길 39 (39, Dosan-daero 15-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea)

2. Thesis (Gangnam station, Seoul)
This place is well-known for their Tiramisu latte which looks like the one in the picture above. It is super delicious. It became my favorite coffee. Sweet, but not too sweet. Bitter, but not too bitter. Milky, but not too milky. The amazing thing is that it has cream cheese chunks on the bottom. I bet you will love it.
And if you are a coffee lover, I suggest that you sit in the coffee bar and ask the barista to make one that you like.
Price: Tiramisu latte – 6,500 KRW

3. Frank (Itaewon, Seoul)
Frank is more like a bakery or dessert shop. Its rainbow roll cake is the most popular. Honestly it was not moist enough at first, but after I put it in the fridge for a day, it became moist and so delicious. Look at how beautiful it looks. Isn’t it attractive? 🙂
When I visited here on the week of Halloween, it had a skull cake which was disgusting to me but very unique. I don’t think I can handle it ever, but if you like it, go ahead.
Price: Rainbow roll cake – 16,000 KRW / Skull cake – 48,000 KRW

4. FIKA (Garosu-gil, Seoul)
This is a Swedish style cafe. When you see the boy and the girl on the door, you can tell, right? On the basement, they sell Swedish goods so you can look around and buy something which is fun. Its interior is Swedish style. FIKA also specializes in its desserts. Look how colorful it is 🙂

5. Ronnefeldt (Coex, Seoul)
I love their tea, especially milk tea. Both cold and hot. When I went there and drank tea, I felt like I became an England noblewoman. Their lights and interior designs are fancy and luxurious. Definitely a must-go! Oh, its crepe cake is awesome, so don’t forget about it.

6. Cafe Nammae (Insadong, Seoul)
Have you heard of Charcoal roasted coffee? When I first saw it, it was attractive to me so I did not hesitate at all to go in. They say that charcoal roasted coffee has a unique dark, smoky flavor and it stays fresher than gas roasted coffee. To feel the difference, I suggest you just try the normal coffee, not things like the Cafe latte or Carmel macchiato.
Price: Charcoal roasted cafe latte – 6,000 KRW

You love to play with toys? Then this place is the best for you. It is a Kidult (Kid+Adult) cafe where you can play games and read comic books besides playing with toys. You can play like a kid here. They have so many fun things like this Pikachu game. You will feel that time really flies.

8. Siin-ui jip (Jocheon, Jeju)
The views here are incredible, especially in the summer. It’s right next to the water so you can enjoy nature. Their coffee and desserts are also high quality. You can truly relax there looking at the sea and listening to natural sounds like the wind, crickets, and dogs outside.
